Crawford Astronomy blog is now online.

After listening to my wife, something I should do more often, I started this blog so that my family and I can share our adventures in astronomy. Our fun viewing the stars started shortly after my son, Michael, asked for a telescope for Christmas.
Michael became the proud new owner of a Celestron NexStar 6SE. This is a Schmidt-Cassegrain design with a 6" aperture. The mount comes with a computer guide that is fairly simple to use. We have been very happy with the telescope thus far. We purchased the telescope form a store called The Observatory - Dallas. The staff in this store is great. They do not rush anyone into buying anything and actually take time to educate them. They offer free classes with every purchase to teach new owners how to use the equipment.
Using the new telescope for the first time was very easy. We had it up and running quickly and were looking at the various stars. It is very rewarding to hear the excitement in people as they gaze up at objects, and see the stars and moon like they have never seen them before. The first time we sited Jupiter and its moons was inspiring.
